PILOTS

Welcome to our Pilot Projects page!

This section of our website is dedicated to showcasing the groundbreaking exploratory work we’ll be undertaking as part of the European Commission’s prestigious AVIS project. Under the expert guidance of multinational tech giant GMV, we’re in the process of developing a range of innovative pilot projects designed to redefine navigation for autonomous vessels along Europe’s inland waterways.

These pilots will serve as focal points in our quest to enhance sustainable transportation, minimize pollution, and stimulate novel applications for autonomous vessels. Each project is carefully designed to put our refined autonomous navigation systems to the test, employing state-of-the-art EU space systems like the European Global Navigation Satellite System (E-GNSS) and Copernicus.

We’re excited for you to see what’s in the pipeline, although we’re still in the development phase at the moment. As our pilot projects come to fruition, we’ll update this page with comprehensive information, tangible results, and valuable insights drawn from each test.

Remember, these pilots are not just experiments; they are the stepping stones to a more sustainable, digitalized, and efficient future for inland waterway transportation across Europe. Keep checking back for updates and sneak peeks into our work in progress. Stay tuned for a glimpse into how we’re steering the future of navigation.

AVIS Project Update: Pilot Demonstration Scheduled for 2026

We are pleased to confirm that four pilot demonstrations will be conducted in 2026 as part of the AVIS Project. These pilots will highlight the practical benefits of integrating EU Space Data into the navigation systems of automated vessels operating on European inland waterways.

The selected pilot locations are:

  • The Rhine
  • The Middle Danube
  • The Lower Danube
  • The Guadalquivir

By leveraging satellite-based technologies, the AVIS Project aims to enhance the safety, efficiency, and innovation of inland waterway transport across Europe.
